#Braavhearts Britt & Julie, the powerduo behind multibrand store Lune Lautre
When friends become business partners. It's not a fairytale, it's the real life story of Britt & Julie, the owners of Lune Lautre, the multi-brand boutique, Lune Lautre, the label, and - since two weeks - Lune Lautre, the webshop! As you can see, the sky is the limit for the two power women from Antwerp.
1. First of all, can you introduce yourself and what you do in a few sentences?
Britt: I’m an ambitious soul that wants to make the most out of life, both on a personal as on a professional level. For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a keen eye for aesthetics, and a soft spot for pretty clothes, gorgeous interiors, beautiful objects and charming places. After finishing by business education, I quickly figured out I should work in a creative industry. Running my own women’s multibrand shop (LuneLautre in Edegem) with my fashion soulmate Julie, therefore really is like a dream come true.
Julie: My name is Julie, I’m 33 years old, living happily together with my partner Olivier and our little girl Maxie. Soon our family will expand with a baby boy... Since almost 5 years I own a clothing store with my best friend Britt. The best job I could ever wish for :)
2. Do you have some sort of life motto of any kind?
Britt: Everything happens for a reason! Positive and negative that is, even when you can’t always understand it at the very moment. Try to learn from your mistakes, and better things will come your way!
Julie: You have the power to create the life you desire. And you always have a choice...
3. How do you manage to maintain a healthy work-life balance?
Britt: Not quite good actually… I want it all, which is something I have to work on 😊
Julie: I try to eat healthy every day, and work out 2-3 times a week. Luckily I have a job that makes me move around all day long, it’s like an all-day-long cardio sometimes ;)
4. What is the ultimate relaxation for you?
Britt: Unfortunately ’m not that good in relaxing… But a good yin yoga session or relaxing massage, always do the trick!
Julie: A facial or a massage.
5. What brings you peace after a hectic day?
Britt: The smile of my sweet baby girl Joanne
Julie: Having a cup of tea in my cosy garden. And when it’s cold: a hot bath.
6. What are your professional objectives for the future?
Britt: Successfully grow our brand new online shop and further establish LuneLautre The brand.
Julie: Working on the webshop we just launched. And taking our business to a higher level every year. And... let’s see what great things the future has to offer us!
7. How do you combine this with your personal life?
Britt: I do what I love, so LuneLautre kind of IS my personal life 😉
Julie: I must say, it’s a struggle sometimes to combine a business and running a household ;) but I try to plan everything in advance, and since I became a mom I try not making too many plans during weekends so I have time to spend with Maxie and Olivier without having to rush
8. If you could give one tip to other ambitious women, what would it be?
Britt: Don’t be too dependent on others! Go out there and just do your thing, instead of waiting for someone to show up and tell you how it’s done. Or never let people tell you that you shouldn’t take risks or that something is impossible. If you believe in it, trust yourself and make it happen.
Julie: Dream big, and don’t forget to take a break every now and then. And remember: you can’t do everything on your own... it’s nice to have someone to discuss or brainstorm with.
9. Which book do you think is an absolute must-read for our Braavheart community?
Julie: I’m not much of a reader, but the books of the 7 sisters by Lucinda Riley are very relaxing.
10. Highlight of your career?
Britt: Hard to tell… I loved most of it so far, and if I didn’t, I definitely learned a lot out of it!
Julie: Becoming my own boss (together with Britt when we started the shop), and now having 3 amazing women working for us. Girl power! :)
11. Favorite sport or workout?
Britt: Running! I love to be outside, and it’s the perfect time for me to clear my head and put things in perspective.
Julie: Running, personal training
12. Guilty pleasure?
Britt: Honey! Can’t live without it!
13. Favorite recipes?
Britt: Banana cake and a good spaghetti Bolognese always work their magic on me!
Julie: I’m super busy and don’t like cooking a lot, so it has to be something easy :) I love my homemade vegan pesto, I serve it with French beans and salmon, it’s my daughter’s favourite recipe. Oh, and I love a typical Parisian restaurant with healthy and very pure recipes.
14. Who do you think should be in our #Braavhearts section?
Britt: Michèle Dedrie! I admire her style and positivity!
Julie: Stephanie Commens (I love Mr Mittens), because she managed to create such a beautiful brand and give jobs to many women in Peru.
