How to learn to embrace and love your body

How to learn to embrace and love your body

Body positivity is definitely a trend that is here to stay. At Braav can not but embrace this movement, as our focus is not so much on the superficiality of looks (which can be deceiving!) but rather on feeling good, feeling healthy and being comfortable with your body. The latter can take time, and is easier said than done. We've listed some tips based on our own experiences to help you find the right path to love and embrace your body.

  1. Stop comparing yourself to others and embrace your individuality.

No one is you and that is your (super)power. Simply try to stop comparing yourself to others, as everyone has different values and believes that guide them. Try to determine what's important for you in order to live your best life. What truly makes you happy is simply not the same as what makes your best friend happy. Learn and grow and don't let other people's opinions influence you too much.

  2. Make a list of what you love about yourself and what you are grateful for.

Every time you feel a bit down, or you feel like the day cannot get any worse take a look at the list you've jotted down and remember you have so many great capabilities an things to be grateful for so don't let those negative thoughts get the better half of you.

  3. Focus on achieving health and not an aesthetic.

We truly believe sport and exercise are of outmost importance for personal growth. Not only will it increase your energy level, it will also make you more resilient and able to tackle everything that comes your way. Don't get lost focussing too hard on what your body should look like. It's a nice plus to get toned abs however this should not be your primary motivation to workout. Once you make this shift you'll feel far more motivated to get to your workouts because you'll focus on how they make you feel rather than just being a task you'll need to do.

  4. Unfollow accounts that contribute to unrealistic beauty standards

It's no secret social media puts a lot of pressure on ourselves. Just like you don't want to surround yourself with toxic people you need to get rid of the accounts that make you feel unhappy about yourself. Simple as that.

  5. Do something that makes you feel amazing

Paint your nails, put on your favourite skirt, meet up with a long lost friend or treat yourself with a good glass of wine at the end of a busy day. You'll notice you actually have way more control over your own thoughts and wellbeing than you might believe.
